Future Sharp recently held its first ‘HR Perspectives’ session on 21st March 2013. Designed to encourage interaction between industry and students, this is a novel idea to educate students about the expectations from the Industry.
Piloted at the Nagpur Academy, the first session saw Pooja Dharangaonkar, Store People’s Officer Big Bazaar having an interactive session with the students studying retail. The students who were inducted into the course in February, have already spent one month at the Future Sharp Academy out of the total three months.
Placements being an essential component of this course, this session’s objective was to remove the myths that students have with regard to placements. As a practice, all students who enroll into Future Sharp Skills Academy, undergo a pre-course assessment and post-course assessment to understand the incremental learning during the course.
Similarly, all students of the Nagpur batch too underwent a pre-course assessment by way of an interview and their scores were recorded. At the start of Pooja’s session, she randomly selected two students and conducted their interviews. Post their interviews and collation of their scores, it was revealed that the both the students had performed well and exceeded their pre-course assessment scores.
Post the interviews, the session started with a brief introduction about the brand Big Bazaar. Pooja then went on to cover topics like industry expectations from the students and hierarchy with roles and responsibilities at Big Bazaar. The session ended on a positive note with Pooja encapsulating the advantages and benefits of receiving prior retail training before joining the retail industry.
Thus, the journey of HR Perspectives began at Nagpur. The success of the session inspired a similar session in Park Circus, Kolkata.
